Description:

Ophelia Martinez has a chance encounter with internationally famous rock-star, Trace Curtis. To Ophelia, Trace will always be the charming boy she met in high school. They share one night together in which Trace falls in love with Ophelia. But Ophelia knows she can’t continue to live in the past, at least not with the secret that haunts her present.

Joey's Review:

Ophelia meets rocker Trace Curtis at a bar. She recognizes him as her high school crush, but Trace, although he recognizes something familiar in her, can't place her.

The pair quickly tumble into bed, and Trace falls hard and fast. Ophelia, however, doesn't let herself accept his sudden devotion.

A Trace of Love is short. Twenty-three pages, to be precise. And its clearly a set up for a serial story regarding the pair.

I felt this entry was too short. We've barely met the romantic leads when lust kicks in and love blooms. Now, don't get me wrong, I'd be more than willing to read the next story to see what happens, and I'd hope for and expect backstory, fleshing out of the characters, and a basis for the sparks of love in the next release in this series.

I think I would accept this story as an prologue in a novel - you know, showing the sparks flying, then taking a step back in the first chapter to really introduce us to the lovers and their stories. As a stand-alone,  it didn't set the hook and send me looking for the next installment.
