Description:

Thirteen years—that's how long Isabeau Montgomery has been living a lie. After an automobile accident took her mother's life, Izzy hid herself away, surviving the only way she knew how. Now she is happy in her carefully reconstructed life. That is until he walks through the door of her bar...

Black Phoenix singer/front man Noah Clark came to Long Island City with a goal—one that doesn’t include an instant, electric attraction to the dark-haired beauty behind the bar. Coaxing her into his bed won’t be easy, but he can’t get her pale, haunted eyes nor her skill on the piano out of his head.

Can Noah help Isabeau overcome the past? Or will her need to protect her secret force her back into hiding and destroy their chance at happiness?

Brandi’s Review:

When I walk through a book store, I of course randomly grab titles, look at the cover and read the synopsis on the back.  I am the first to admit I won't take an angst filled, heart tugging, or tissue grabbing book to the register.  So when I decided to review After Midnight, I was not expecting what I read at all.  Because if I had to give one word to describe this novel I could use emotional, angsty, haunting, romantic, and a few other equally awesome verbs that I am lacking at the moment.  I felt as if I were on an emotional roller coaster, a roller coaster that moved as if it were the ebb and flow of any piece of music.  I adored Noah from the moment he hit the page and walked into Isabeau's bar.   And who wouldn't love and respect a strong character such as Isabeau? Sarah Grimm created such wonderful, amazing and vivid characters who tugged at your heart strings, had you grabbing a tissue, and had you sighing at the end.
